Retailers are chomping at the bit!
A group of nine retailers were invited on a trip to Germany to visit the home of leading bit manufacturer, Sprenger, courtesy of Zebra Products Ltd.
The visit included a trip to the company's head office and factory, where the group got to see the full manufacture process – from design to production.
'We had a great trip to Sprenger,' said Kathryn Jacquet from RB Equestrian. 'Not only was it fascinating to see the vast amount of physical effort that goes into producing each bit, it was also interesting to have an insight into the research and development behind each Sprenger product.' Victoria Highfield, from Online for Equine echoed Kathryn's comments; 'Understanding the in-depth manufacturing process has helped us to understand why the products are so unique and has demonstrated why Sprenger are the market leaders. The trip has helped to improve our sales figures as our staff are far better informed when it comes to discussing the bits with customers.'
While Erica Leeson from Harley Equestrian added; 'A fascinating and informative visit to the Sprenger head office and factory, which leaves me in no doubt that Sprenger should be every riders' first choice.'
Sprenger introduces its latest invention
Sprenger has launched a brand new bit range – the novocontact.
The German bit manufacturer's latest invention showcases a unique oval shape design which widens the contact area of the mouthpiece on the horse's tongue, without putting pressure on the palate.
When the rider keeps a steady contact, the flat part of the mouthpiece lies sensitively on the horse's tongue. As the rider gives a rein aid the mouthpiece turns forward meaning the contact surface gets narrower, ensuring a more precise and effective communication. When giving the reins, the mouthpiece turns back to its soft and smooth position with the flat part lying delicately on the tongue.
Tests have shown that the single jointed novocontact bits are highly recommended for horses that do not take the contact confidently or have sensitive mouths. The double jointed novocontact bits are also ideal to use on horses that occasionally tend to pull against the hand, but are too sensitive to be ridden with stronger bits.
Novocontact bits are based on the latest scientific research. They are available as loose ring snaffles, eggbuts or Pelhams in single and double jointed versions, with RRPs from £95.
Amerigo extends Vega line
Leading saddle manufacturer Amerigo has extended its Vega line with two new dressage saddles.
The Vega Dressage Siena and Close Contact Dressage Siena have been developed on the back of the success of the existing Siena saddles in the Amerigo line. Part of the Vega collection, these new saddles incorporate a synthetic tree to offer total balance and optimal coordination of movement for both horse and rider - making them an excellent choice for riders of all levels.
Made from luxuriously soft calfskin leather, the Siena saddles give the rider an instant feeling of comfort, safety and close contact with the horse. The new super soft kneeroll provides the rider with total support but also allows for a relaxed, free but efficient leg position.
